1st January 2002 was a memorable day in the history of Maldives Educational System. This day witnessed the start of Dharumavantha School, a new boys’ secondary school in Male’. In fact, the birth of Dharumavantha School was facilitated by an equal sharing of the resources of Majeediyya School that also gave the new school an equal share in the tradition of excellence. We recognize the fact that Dharumavantha School then is only a continuing entity of the hope and aspiration of the people of Maldives who have toiled their lifetime for the development of education in this country. |
SCHOOL NAME
Maldives is a nation rich in heritage and culture. The spirit of recognizing the past and making the people aware of its history is often reflected in the names of different primary and secondary schools in Maldives. No doubt, it has been followed and probably the existing gap has been filled by naming the new school on behalf of a personality who had been instrumental in bringing the blaze of faith of Islam to Maldives. It was during the reign of King Dharumavantha Rasgefaanu that Maldives embraced Islam which is the potent and vibrant force of socio-economic life in Maldives.
As the school advances in its goal of achieving academic excellence and high degree of discipline among its pupils, we realize the fact that it is a challenging task. It is onus on us to provide an environment in which everyone can learn, achieve and excel. |
